My name is Francesco Banchini. I am an experienced leader, educator, and researcher. I have implemented many innovations in international schools, published a book on leadership (convergent and divergent thinking), one on historical musical notation, and articles on leadership and education.

I believe in the power of individuals and their ability to achieve through a supported challenge. This belief was born in me from an early age when, from a non-privileged background, I was encouraged to pursue my passion for music. I can remember clearly those moments when I was inspired by exceptional individuals to reach for my dreams and that, alongside dedication and sustained application, enabled me to achieve many of those dreams. As leader and educator, I believe that we have a responsibility, not just to support, but to inspire and encourage those we teach and those we work with to achieve more than they thought possible. In a fast-changing global society, with increasingly scarce resources, we need to be ambitious in what we wish to achieve both individually and together. We need resilience and tenacity to face challenges and to problem solve, and empathy to collaborate to move forward together.

I operate within a socio-constructivist paradigm, which defines individuals as active constructors of meaning, and thus I believe that learners should be able to direct their own learning, with support, ensuring that they are able to progress and move to the next level.

I hold Masters degrees in Music from Tor Vergata University, Rome and the Conservatory of Music, Naples, a Certificate in International Leadership and Organizational Behaviour (Bocconi University), A Certificate in Advanced Educational Leadership (Harvard University), and an MA in Educational Leadership and Management (University of Bath).

My educational experience has spanned a wide range of schools and curricula including extensive work within the IBPYP, IBMYP, and IBDP as a coordinator, examiner, workshop leader, trainer, and presenter (IB Global Conferences, AIE, ECIS Leadership & Teacher Conferences, NYU Steinhardt, TEDx).
